tenkyo, a learning environment that provides tools to make self-directed learning effortless and fun. To get started with tenkyo, pick a subject you'd like to learn, find some text about those subjects, point tenkyo to the text, or copy/paste it in, and get started. Mouse over words and tenkyo will try to find a definition in one of its dictionaries. Select the definition you like best, and in the future, that definition will be at the top of the list. tenkyo will learn, based on user choice, what the best definition is, based on a given context. If there are no definitions, or you don't like any of them, enter your own. In the future, tenkyo will use that definition, for you and other users. If other people use your definition, you will get COIN, something we'll talk about later, and REP. Set goals for yourself, create contests, track stats.
If at any time you find what you are reading too hard, or just boring, move on to the next item to read and tenkyo will preserve your place. Easily create flashcards, reviewed against a special spaced algorithm designed so that you never have to worry about the backlog. tenkyo will learn from your usage how many cards to show you at a time, and will periodically prompt you to answer questions, although you CAN over-ride this, we advise you not to. tenkyo will determine, based on material already covered, cards already reviewed, etc, which item to show you next with regards to reading material. tenkyo will provide suggested reading material as well.
create awesome paths/quests/sidequests/contests and other material and based on how much use other users get from it, be rewarded in COIN. COIN can then be used to purchase pre-made paths/quests/sidequests, etc, or traded in for awesome gear from our shop. COIN can also be purchased, for those who don't want, or can't come up with material. Everyone will start with enough COIN to purchase one of our special bootstrap quests, to get you started on your path. tenkyo will launch with two hand-crafted bootstrap quests: "Learn Japanese" and "Learn to Program with Coffeescript".
REP is earned by: creating awesome content, answering questions, having your content be positively recieved by the community and most importantly just using tenkyo to learn. REP is a measurement of two things: how much the community trusts you and values your content and how much you have learned about a given subject. Users can use REP to decide whether or not to use material created by you, so we reccomend taking the time to craft quality content.
