Rclone systemd user service

rclone systemd service

Preparation

This service will use the same remote name you specified when using rclone config create. If you haven't done that yet, do so now.

Next, create the mountpoint for your remote. The service uses the location ~/mnt/<remote> by default.

mkdir ~/mnt/dropbox

How to setup a practically free CDN using Backblaze B2 and Cloudflare

⚠️ Note 2023-01-21
Some things have changed since I originally wrote this in 2016. I have updated a few minor details, and the advice is still broadly the same, but there are some new Cloudflare features you can (and should) take advantage of. In particular, pay attention to Trevor Stevens' comment here from 22 January 2022, and Matt Stenson's useful caching advice. In addition, Backblaze, with whom Cloudflare are a Bandwidth Alliance partner, have published their own guide detailing how to use Cloudflare's Web Workers to cache content from B2 private buckets. That is worth reading,

OpenWrt-router as 802.1x-client

OpenWrt-router as 802.1x-client

This use-case is a pretty rare one, but in some circumstances, it can be very helpful. For example when you live in a student dormatory which only offers one 802.1x-encrypted LAN-port in your room, but you want to run your own wifi-network to be online with other clients, too, like your laptop or smartphone. In this case, normal routers with stock firmware won't help you out because most don't support this networking protocol. OpenWrt on the other hand offers you the possibility to connect your router (you could buy this one if you don't already have a suiting router) to the 802.1x-network via WAN and enable you to have an own, independent network. Here's how.

Important: before you attempt to do this, it is NECESSARY to ask your network admin if he/she is okay with your usage scenario. This can cause some trouble if you do it without permission, as many 802.1x-networks aim to prevent this exact use-case.

So here's the deal

Generate Symantec VIP Access Token as TOTP

Generate Symantec VIP Access Token as OTP

Recently I came across a web service that required two-factor authentication using the Symantec VIP Access App. I already manage all of my OTP tokens in a different app (If you are on iOS I highly recommend using OTP Auth by Roland Moers.) and did not want to have to use yet another app to generate the TOTP.

There is a way to generate a Symantec VIP Access compatible token very easily if you have access to an environment which can run Python PIP. I happen to have Ubuntu Windows Subsystem Linux running on my machine. (If you are running Windows 10 and don't have this you should really check it out.) Let's get started...

Instructions

Here we install python3-pip and qrencode so we can generate our secret, I

Some OVH dedicated server does not supports installing Debian original kernel due to hardware support issue. Also new Supermicro Atom 3000 SOC based products need an updated driver on ubuntu 14.04/16.04/17.04 to recognize the network adapter.

Most common issue is the network adapter card.
