use verical only metal strip on the table placed about 1cm.
send the positive signal to every 1st, 5th, 9th, etc strip.
send the negative signal to every 3rd, 7th, 11th, etc strip.
the inbetween 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, etc strips send voltage reference (i.e. ground or 2.5V)
on subsquent phases, increment thoae numbers by 1.
the tokens with have receiver plates (or contacts) on the 6 equidistamt opposite corners.
this should help ensure opposite signals will always be safely sent to at least one pair regardless of rotation of token. each pair will go through its own rectifying diode bridge. then those outputs will go through another diode to a shared power capacitor.

Better if make the tokens' receiving contacts be smaller than the gap between table strips, to ensure a receiving contact doesnt conduct between adjacent strips. It then may be possible to only use 3 receiving contacts in an equilateral triange, with a diodebridge between every pair of contacts.
