Internal Journeyman Tour

Crafter visiting days

Problem:

Its hard to get tractable feedback when we are on client site, because Jim (or any other person) is not there to assess the sitution and address it immediately. The feedback we do get is very delayed and relies on us telling "the story of what happend".

This it not much different from the situation we were in when we started the apprenticeship 2.5 years ago: Jim was busy estabilishing client relationships and running the day to day business. A large body of knowledge that has carried us all through the apprenticeship stems from the impromptu conversations we had in the office, right after our IPMs and with running code infront of us. Issues and potential solutions were spotted by other apprentices and worked on directly with a pair.

We want that feedback cycle back.

Proposal: Internal Journeyman tour

Give us a few (2-3?) days per person in which we can visit another project provide feedback, insight, and external stimulus. The person beeing visited benefits from having an extra, external person to talk through ideas and get feedback on day-to-day dealings. The visitor will be able to break out of their routine, focus on observing and giving feedback, and practice the role of a coach/consultant.
