 Fantastic, simple project management. Free tier does most things you'll ever need. I've tried Basecamp, Unfuddle and a million bug trackers, but a combination of Github and Trello is what I like best. Trello gives you a nice full overview of your whole project and who is doing what. It also makes it really easy to reorganize priorities. Unless my client has a project management tool they want me to use, I create a Trello board and add the client and try to centralize as much communication as possible in there.

 Best time-tracking app I've tried, with native apps for just about every OS. Free tier does most things you'll ever need. Paid tier does even more and plugs into various other tools.


 Freshbooks: http://freshbooks.com

 Invoicing and expense management and more. Absolutely essential. Up to 3 clients is free. API, bank connection, easy import and export of expenses, etc. Works with Toggl but also has its own time tracker.


 Pomodoro: pomodoro.me

 Super simple method to organize your time into chunks. Seems kind of silly but works well. I don't use it all the time but make it whip me into shape on low energy days.

 Habit tracking app. It's not really meant as a professional tool, but I use it for motivation both personally and professionally. Habits I track include things like: "read technical book", "cleaned up git branches", "examined server stats" and the elusive "inbox zero".

 Mockups app with free tier. Great for communicating with clients. Also easy for clients to use themselves.
