Audio handling

Equilzer does not record audio, upload audio, send audio to a server, sell audio data, or allow humans to listen to your audio. Audio is routed through Chrome's Web Audio API and immediately played back to your selected output device.

First-install welcome page

On first install, Equilzer opens the public Install Worthy welcome hub hosted on GitHub Pages. Loading that page makes a normal website request to GitHub Pages. The hub contains no analytics or tracking scripts and does not receive audio or Equilzer settings. Substack is contacted only if you choose to open or subscribe to Install Worthy.

Permissions

  • tabCapture: captures audio from the current tab only after you activate the extension.
  • offscreen: runs a hidden extension page so audio processing can continue while the control window is open or refocused.
  • storage: saves local site/global EQ profiles, custom presets, and extension options.
  • activeTab: limits access to the tab you explicitly activate.

Limited Use statement

The use of information received from Chrome extension APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Data sale and transfer

Equilzer does not sell user data. Equilzer does not transfer user data to third parties. Equilzer does not use user data for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or any purpose unrelated to local tab audio processing.

Remote code

Equilzer does not use remote JavaScript or remote WebAssembly. The extension's HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and image assets are packaged with the extension.
