Autumn

Yesterday was the start of autumn here in Australia. It was sweltering. It will be again today. Despite the heat, I am sleeping here in our bedroom without A/C while everybody sleeps down stairs where the only A/C in house is. It's the end of my favourite season and it'll start to get cold again.

I brought my work computer this weekend. I usually do but I always end up not touching it during the weekends, so what's the point? It's a bit of a workout when I'm lugging the thing to and from work while using public transport. I think the idea is to spend a little bit of time reading code and being more efficient at work. But I never do. This weekend it'll be different. I'll open it up -- I won't bother connecting to the internet. I will just read code. In doing so, I hope to get a little bit better and pick up a few gems in there so I'd be more efficient at work.

It's start of the weekend once again. Two days of time that's dedicated for personal use. I usually don't plan to use it wisely and the weekend just slips by. So this weekend, I'll be driving around town tomorrow. Shuttling my family to where they have to be on time. That's daddy duties.

Tonight it was movie night for the kids. They did not do homework session. That's ok, we'll do it tomorrow and tomorrow is maths time.

It will be hot again tomorrow -- we're thinking about going to the beach but with the time we've got, I think it's not happening.

Important: set some goals for the month of March. As I've said in the previous entries I'll keep it down to a minimum this time. Laser focus gets me somewhere.

Sale is going on at our favourite sale place -- but with nanay doing the grocery shopping tomorrow. I think it's not happening. I am intrested to buy two more super dry shirts. They're so comfy.

I am reading two new books as of the moment. I borrowed a book about the piano. I'll be learning a piece from JS Bach -- supposedly a simple one. The book promises that I am able to play the whole thing within six weeks. Thing is I have to put in 45 mins of practice a day which is doable but will that be a priority for the month of March? Let's see.

I want to go back to budgeting. I started out strong in January, relaxed on February, but I have to go back to riding that thing again on March.

Here's a random thought.

While I am doing this, I remember my childhood when Doogie Howser MD was popular. Every episode ends with Doogie writing on his computer with a blue screen, white text and a blinking block cursor. He empties out his brain and puts it in the computer. This is probably the earliest form of blogging but it's not published on the net at that time but you can read it as he types. It's funny how some obscure details in your childhood sticks with you.

Later today I'll look for a times table flash cards in the mall. The one I found was $13. I searched online and found one under $4. If I'm not successful today, I'll go ahead and buy online then.

I'm thinking of selling my watch as well. It doesn't give me joy anymore and I want to move on. I rarely use it and I could use the money to invest on bigger things. Adult things like saving up for a home deposit. Exciting!

I'm just going to put it out there. We will become Australians real real soon. I reckon before June 2019.
