Humpday dump

Recap

  • The morning was crazy. I woke up early just to try it out -- because I saw a short Instagram video about some crazy military guy that teaches morning routines. He said just wake the fuck up when your alarm goes off in the morning. No snoozing. Just wake up. Decide to wake up at that moment. Attack the day and don't let it gang up on you. You take action -- do not react. We headed off to the train station 5 minutes earlier than the usual but there was a man that was hit by a train just minutes before we got to the station. Trains were cancelled and it was a mess. It all turned out good for us. We drove and got stuck in traffic. I decided to drive all the way to the suburb just outside the city and it was all good.

  • I was also excited to report for work anticipating lunch. There's a scheduled potluck. I volunteered to bring the dumplings. I found some leche flan, two of them, and brought it too. An hour before lunch I pre-ordered the dumplings. Great! All sorted. When I checked the event it was not until next week!!! Fuck! I was too excited for the potluck I did not even pay attention when it's supposed to be. I ended up bringing home a ton of dumplings and two leche flan containers. Whew. Pay attention to the details and I'll save myself a ton of trouble and money.

  • Tonight it's writing practice for my daughters, but we always warm up with maths. For Erin, it was the seven times table. For Lara, it was the six times table. I must say they are really getting a hang of it already. Yesterday we didn't do any maths because they get tired as well. Slow and steady -- they are getting there.

Brain dump

  • With the guys I follow on twitter -- I am really getting interested in building muscle especially with my age. I am not getting any younger. I am 38 and it's an icing on a cake to looke good @ 40. Hmmm, later this morning, I saw a post in our workplace some Sportsbet employee benefits. I saw a discounted gym membership, and a discounted public transport tickets. I would like to take advantage of those benefits and take care of myself. I've been at the gym last year but it was cut short not because I wanted to but I was forced to. It's worth a try again.

  • Last night, I went jogging despite my sore throat. I'm glad I went for it because right after the jog, I felt great. I was able to expel alot of mucus after my jog and felt more alive. I remember when I was running regularly, I was very resistant to sickness.

  • I was listening to a podcast. There was a CEO of a company and it was not her first time to be one. It was her second. Wow! When I looked at her background, she was a Standford graduate Bachelor of Arts and had an MBA degree from Standford as well. What a powerful woman! If that kind of education will give me the same power, I'd go for it as well. I can apply for an MBA scholarship when we become Australian citizens. I want to move my career forward, and if I have to go through uni again, I'd do it.

  • We had a dev forum today. Tim discussed all the performance tweaks he made in our app. It was awesome that he is thinking at that deeper level. In my case, I am just concerned with stuff displaying on the screen and doing it's job correctly. I am not too concerned with the minutiae of code. Hats off to Tim for caring that much. I'm thinking to get to that level. I should read more app code -- which I would do every weekend starting this week. It will be hard but it will be worth it and will have a direct impact with my work.
