Privacy Policy — Focus Monitor

Last updated: 11 June 2026

Focus Monitor does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data.

What the extension stores

Focus Monitor counts the short-form videos you watch on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, and records how much time you spend watching them. These counts, your accumulated watch time, your defer history and your settings are stored locally on your device using the browser's chrome.storage API.

What the extension does NOT do

  • It does not create an account or ask you to sign in.
  • It does not send any data to us or to any third party.
  • It contains no analytics, tracking, advertising or remote code.
  • It does not read or store the content, titles, comments or URLs of the videos you watch beyond an opaque per-video identifier used solely to avoid counting the same short twice in one day.

Permissions

  • storage is used only to save your counters and settings locally.
  • The extension runs on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok solely to detect and count the short/reel currently on screen and to display its panel and break reminder.

Your data, your control

Because all data stays on your device, you can erase it at any time by removing the extension or clearing its storage from chrome://extensions.
