This is what I did to insert the CSRF token in backbone requests. This works with django.

	var oldSync = Backbone.sync;
	Backbone.sync = function(method, model, options){
	options.beforeSend = function(xhr){
	xhr.setRequestHeader('X-CSRFToken', CSRF_TOKEN);
	};
	return oldSync(method, model, options);
	};
