 This is actually the biggest reason I did not apply in the first place. I will say however, the arts challenge has seen some great improvements since the first year--- I am hopeful for the announcement of this years finalists

 I have a hard time with this piece. I think there are issues with the grantees in this specific challenge, however I don't think this is looking at the myriad of Knight grantees in Detroit outside of this specific challenge. For example, check out the Arts Challenge grantees: http://www.knightarts.org/knight-arts-challenge/winners.... But beyond that, I think this piece missed the opportunity to actually talk about this "trend", I would have liked this to be a broader look at the trends of foundation funding in Detroit and talk about real solutions to creating equity, challenging funders in Detroit to do better. Instead of a clearly biased bash @ Knight. This piece is pretty short sighted, not really looking at the bigger "trend" just complaining about a specific instance.

 I'm shocked about the lack of response (shade) a lot of applicants received. It's always good to receive some feedback. Now on to the matter of Crain's. For them to even apply, be awarded.. For some reason in my mind... Sounds Ratchet.
