The December GDAL Maintainers Meeting was canceled due to landing on a holiday and reports have been compiled for this month's Minutes.

Project News

Maintenance activities update

Alessandro

• PR review activity
• OSGeo/gdal#13498 GDAL CLI: reproject - segfault on --bbox with indentical corners
• OSGeo/gdal#13527 gdal_contour behavior change between 3.9.3 and 3.12.0 when generating contour interval lines.

Dan

• finished up gdal vector sort (OSGeo/gdal#13351)
• organized/added missing options in the docs for new CLI (OSGeo/gdal#13535)
• fixed crash in gdal vector check-coverage (OSGeo/gdal#13521)
• allowed gdal raster create to be used in a pipeline, useful for making vector grids (OSGeo/gdal#13554)

Even

• 45+ tickets triaging/fixing, enhancements, pull request reviews, or other work items
• GDAL 3.12.1 release
• EPSG v12.044, v12.045, v12.046 updates in PROJ (still mostly ETRS89 related)
• gdal raster calc: allow to specify input files as nested pipelines
• gdal vector filter: add --update-extent
• GeoJSON and GeoJSONSeq: minify output (might impact downstream that would do byte comparison in their tests)
• gdal vector buffer: automatically set output geometry field type to Polygon or MultiPolygon
• GPKG and SQLite SQL dialect: add ST_Hilbert()
• gdal vector check-coverage/clean-coverage/simplify-coverage/sort: add progress report
• a few libtiff security/crashing bug fixes
• Arrow/Parquet/generic arrow: support Timestamp With Offset extension field
• gdal CLI: remove static registration of top-level algorithm that caused issues with (at least some) static builds (MXE Windows builds for R)
