Last updated: 16 August 2026
Developer: Josh Polson Contact: joshpolson@gmail.com App: Team Battle Companion (iOS / iPadOS TestFlight beta) Bundle identifier: com.joshpolson.killTeamReferee
This Privacy Policy describes how Team Battle Companion (“the App”) handles information during the TestFlight beta. The App is a local, unofficial tabletop assistant. It is not a social network, advertising product, or cloud service.
- Summary
• We do not create user accounts. • We do not run advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs. • We do not sell or share personal data with data brokers. • Session data (rosters, scoreboard, calculator state, and similar play data) is stored on your device. • Nearby peer sync, if you use it, exchanges session data only between devices you choose to connect on your local network. • Apple TestFlight may collect information under Apple’s own policies when you install and use a beta.
- Who this applies to
This policy applies to testers who install the App through Apple TestFlight and to anyone who later uses a public build that includes the same local-only behaviour described here.
- Information we do not collect
The developer does not operate a backend for the App and does not collect:
• names, email addresses, or account credentials (except emails you choose to send to joshpolson@gmail.com) • location history • contacts, calendar, or microphone data • advertising identifiers for tracking • analytics events or usage dashboards • payment or purchase data (there are no in-app purchases in this beta)
The App’s privacy manifest declares that it does not track users and does not collect the data types Apple lists for tracking or third-party sharing.
- Information stored on your device
The App stores tabletop session information locally so the product can work offline. This may include:
• player setup, rosters, loadouts, and deployed team state • scoreboard values (for example CP, VP, turning point) • calculator selections and combat-resolution state • map / mission selections • equipment quantities and remaining uses • optional user-imported faction or rules files you place in the App’s import flow • small on-device preferences (for example UserDefaults used for app settings)
This information stays on the device unless you copy it elsewhere yourself or you start Nearby Peer Sync (see section 5).
Deleting the App removes locally stored App data, subject to how iOS handles backups. If you restore a device backup, App data included in that backup may return.
- Nearby peer sync (optional)
If you use Sync, the App may use Local Network and Bluetooth to discover and connect devices you choose so they can share the same session.
• Sync is off until you start it. • Data exchanged is session / match state between connected peers on your local network. • The developer does not receive this traffic and does not operate a sync server. • Other people on the same local network cannot join unless they use the App and you connect with them.
iOS will show system permission prompts for Local Network and Bluetooth. You can deny those permissions; Sync will not work, and the rest of the App remains usable.
- Photo library and file import (optional)
The App may include a file picker used to import optional user content (for example custom or supplementary rules files). On iOS, that library can cause the system to ask for Photo Library access.
• The App does not browse your photo library in the background. • Access happens only if you choose to pick or import a file. • Imported files are stored on device for use in the App. • You can refuse the permission. Import features that need it will be unavailable.
- Crash, diagnostic, and TestFlight data (Apple)
If you install the App through TestFlight, Apple may collect crash logs, energy diagnostics, and other information needed to deliver betas. Apple processes that information under Apple’s Privacy Policy and TestFlight terms.
If you email the developer about a bug, include only what you are comfortable sharing (for example device model, iOS version, and a description of what happened). Screenshots you attach are used only to investigate the report.
- Emails you send us
If you contact joshpolson@gmail.com, we receive whatever you include in that message (for example your email address, device details, and screenshots). We use that information to respond to feedback and fix bugs. We do not add you to a marketing list.
- Children
The App is intended for tabletop hobbyists and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
- Third parties
The App does not include advertising networks or analytics vendors.
Apple provides App Store, TestFlight, and device OS services. Those services are governed by Apple’s policies, not this one.
If you open an external link from the App (for example Apple’s Standard EULA), that destination has its own privacy practices.
- International use
The developer does not host an App user database. Local data remains on your device and, if you use Sync, on the peer devices you connect.
- Data retention
• On-device App data: until you delete it in-app (where available), delete the App, or erase the device. • Email correspondence: kept only as needed to handle your request and related beta support, then deleted in the ordinary course of mailbox management. • Apple TestFlight records: retained by Apple according to Apple’s policies.
- Your choices
• Do not use Sync if you do not want session data to leave your device for a nearby peer. • Deny Local Network, Bluetooth, or Photo Library permissions in iOS Settings. • Delete the App to remove its local data. • Email joshpolson@gmail.com to ask questions about this policy or request deletion of any email you sent us.
- Changes
We may update this policy as the beta or a later App Store version changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be described in TestFlight notes or an in-app About / Privacy screen where practical.
- Unofficial status
Team Battle Companion is an independent hobby project. It is unofficial and not endorsed by Games Workshop. Games Workshop names and related content remain their trademarks and property. This privacy policy covers only how the App handles data; it does not grant rights in Games Workshop intellectual property.
