Rather than set up even more infrastructure, I run Proxmox Backup Server on the same machine that's running a Proxmox VE host.
Open a shell on your Proxmox VE host. We'll be installing PBS alongside Proxmox VE at the OS level. We will NOT run PBS inside a container.

OneDrive for Mac is having huge issues so I'm trying to move the files out of its folder and start over again... but I'm being blocked by extended attributes named: com.apple.fileutil.PlaceholderData.
You can see them with: ls -alh@e or xattr <dir name>

Remove them:

This script can be used to backup essential configuration files from the Proxmox Virtual Enivronment (PVE) host.
The script will create backups using tar with specified backup prefix and date and time stamp in the file name. Script will also delete backups that are older then number of days specified.
To create backup script that will be executed every day we can create backup script in /etc/cron.daily/ folder. We need to make it writeable by root (creator) only, but readable and executable by everyone:
touch /etc/cron.daily/pvehost-backup
