My tips for finding security issues in GitHub projects.

GitHub for Bug Bounty Hunters

GitHub repositories can disclose all sorts of potentially valuable information for bug bounty hunters. The targets do not always have to be open source for there to be issues. Organization members and their open source projects can sometimes accidentally expose information that could be used against the target company. in this article I will give you a brief overview that should help you get started targeting GitHub repositories for vulnerabilities and for general recon.

Mass Cloning

You can just do your research on github.com, but I would suggest cloning all the target's repositories so that you can run your tests locally. I would highly recommend @mazen160's GitHubCloner. Just run the script and you should be good to go.

$ python githubcloner.py --org organization -o /tmp/output

talk given by John Ousterhout about sustaining relationships

"Scar Tissues Make Relationships Wear Out"

04/26/2103. From a lecture by Professor John Ousterhout at Stanford, class CS142.

This is my most touchy-feely thought for the weekend. Here’s the basic idea: It’s really hard to build relationships that last for a long time. If you haven’t discovered this, you will discover this sooner or later. And it's hard both for personal relationships and for business relationships. And to me, it's pretty amazing that two people can stay married for 25 years without killing each other.

[Laughter]

> But honestly, most professional relationships don't last anywhere near that long. The best bands always seem to break up after 2 or 3 years. And business partnerships fall apart, and there's all these problems in these relationships that just don't last. So, why is that? Well, in my view, it’s relationships don't fail because there some single catastrophic event to destroy them, although often there is a single catastrophic event around the the end of the relation

HTTP Streaming (or Chunked vs Store & Forward)

HTTP Streaming (or Chunked vs Store & Forward)

The standard way of understanding the HTTP protocol is via the request reply pattern. Each HTTP transaction consists of a finitely bounded HTTP request and a finitely bounded HTTP response.

However it's also possible for both parts of an HTTP 1.1 transaction to stream their possibly infinitely bounded data. The advantages is that the sender can send data that is beyond the sender's memory limit, and the receiver can act on

A simple example for using pthread_cond_wait() and pthread_cond_signal() with mutexes and conditional variables.
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <signal.h>
/* compile with gcc -pthread lockwait.c */
pthread_cond_t cv;
pthread_mutex_t lock;

Prefix key

The default prefix is C-b. If you (or your muscle memory) prefer C-a, you need to add this to ~/.tmux.conf:

remap prefix to Control + a
