Magic comes in two flavours:
- Vector magic
- Comes in 3 complementary parts
- Red magic handles changes in state and status
- Blue magic handles motion
- Green magic handles most organic substances, as well as the mysterious “psychological magic”
- Fundamentally measured using the same quantity
- Governs casting effectiveness given a direction, and so is important in and of itself
- Mediated by fields with no source nor sink
- Fields are generally irrotational, but this is not guaranteed
- Massless particles handle these fields, but lead no independent existence
- Interactions between fields can create interesting interactions
- Comes in 3 complementary parts
- Scalar magic
- Usually called white magic
- Mediator and activator of the vector magics
- Fundamentally measured by a different quantity
- Mediated by a particle, which is:
- Non-relativistic
- Single-pole (like gravity, unlike strong (3) or EM (2))
- Non-negative quantity
- Sensitive to all except strong nuclear force, including itself
- Stable
- Bio-accumulated
- Activates the ability to tap into the other three, so there are wizards and non-wizards
- Obeys an inverse cube law
- Can be exploited to essentially “break” conservation laws if present, but only in specifically engineered ways
