Install Sass & Compass on debian

sudo aptitude install ruby-full
sudo gem install sass
sudo gem install compass

on a clean Debian 9 installation it cause:

# gem install sass
Fetching: rb-fsevent-0.10.2.gem (100%)
Successfully installed rb-fsevent-0.10.2
Fetching: ffi-1.9.18.gem (100%)
Building native extensions.  This could take a while...
ERROR:  Error installing sass:
	ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.

    current directory: /var/lib/gems/2.3.0/gems/ffi-1.9.18/ext/ffi_c
/usr/bin/ruby2.3 -r ./siteconf20171229-20999-gs8nxj.rb extconf.rb
checking for ffi.h... *** extconf.rb failed ***
Could not create Makefile due to some reason, probably lack of necessary
libraries and/or headers.  Check the mkmf.log file for more details.  You may
need configuration options.

You have to install build-essential package before installing the gems:
sudo aptitude install build-essential
