For Stanford (Anthem insurance PPO) holders (this is exactly what helped me today...we got appointment for whole family PCR test):

Call: +1 (833) 968-7842 and book appointment (if child is > 10 years old, they will give Livermore...if child <10 years old then, they will try Emeryville/San Jose)

Please check with the school district. They should have covid 19 test location. SRVUSD has one and that is open for SRVUSD students, staff and families. In that clinic they will do rapid test as well PCR. Fremont also has.

Check in Hart Middle School- Drive-through test, it is provided by PUSD

Predicine at Hayward offers free covid tests and the results will be sent to you via text and email within 24 hours. No appointment needed, just:
1. Go there
2. Scan bar code at the line
3. Register on your phone (its pretty easy)
4. Get to the front and show them you registerred
5. Get your test tube thingy and a swap and enter bar code into your registration app
6. You can do the swap yourself and turn it in  OR you can have the nurse do it
7. Give test and swap to nurse and get swapped, ten wiggles per nose
8. Done
9. Get result via text/and email within 24 hours

It’s not easy to get immediate or walk-in tests, but usually Urgent care centers have slots. If you even decide to move a bit further, say Tracy or Stockton, you get more availability.
Ofcourse there are other local services with same day services but they charge a lot, but it’s also very likely your insurance will cover them as well.
