Friday 4am - 10:30pm

L.A. MAGAZINE "Taylor's rekindles memories of steakhouses in the old days with its low prices and Naugahyde booths. The menu offers classic fare, and the steaks, such as the culotte, are cooked to perfection."

Taylor’s has been serving Los Angeles since 1953 in an elegant old world setting. The full bar, private tables, and group room for private functions, have created a destination for a diverse clientele, including many celebrities.

(Prices are not really low but the food is delicious.)

####Night & Market Song Thai Restaurant
http://www.nightmarketsong.com/ 3322 W. Sunset Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90026 Friday 5p - 11p

The cooking here weaves a tapestry of flavors in every dish with a remarkable clarity. The startled pig is absolutely one of the 10 best dishes in LA. Night + Market's portions just about perfect in terms of their ability to be shared, while also being small enough that you can order a bunch of different dishes to try. I also recommend the nam khao tod (crispy rice salad). Flavorful, spicy, texturally fun. Great dish to share.

(Very interesting Thai food like I've never had before. It's in Echo Park; our hipster neighborhood.)

####Taix http://taixfrench.com/
1911 W. Sunset Boulevard Los Angeles, CA 90026
Friday 11:30am - 11:00pm

Taix French restaurant remains faithful to the famed tureen of soup, fresh french bread, and abundant portions of French country cuisine at affordable prices.

(Also in Echo Park. It also has a fun loungey bar. You can order their menu from tableside or from the bar.)

####Sea Salt http://seasaltfishgrill.com/
812 W 7th St, Los Angeles, CA 90017
Friday 11am - 9pm

The poke here is sesame soyed ahi (sourced daily under the guidelines of Long Beach Aquarium’s “seafood of the future” program), tossed with sesame seeds and green onions. It’s available with tortilla chips, on top of a salad, or by the pound.

(Poke is a big trend right now.)

####Cole's Restaurant http://213nightlife.com/colesfrenchdip
118 East 6TH St. Los Angeles, CA 90014
Friday 11am – 1:00am

Cole's had boasted being the oldest restaurant and bar in the city of Los Angeles continuously operated from the same location. One of the inventors of the French Dip. The restaurant claims (along with Philippe's) that the first French dip sandwich was served at Cole's in the same year. Some have suggested that Philippe's is the original, as the sandwich was named "French" dip because of the original proprietor Philippe Mathieu's French heritage.[4] However, according to carvers at Cole's, Henry Cole first dipped the French bread in jus at the request of a customer who had had recent dental work. The French bread was too hard and it hurt this customer's teeth, so Henry dipped the bread in order to soften it. Other customers, with perfectly good teeth, saw Henry dip the bread and requested that he do the same for them - and thus the French dip was born. Other theories exist, so debate is likely to continue.

(There is also a "secret" speak easy place there called Varnish. ~ Mixologists handcraft custom cocktails at this dark, moody speakeasy hidden behind Cole's bar.)

####Clifton's Cafeteria
http://www.cliftonsla.com/
648 S. Broadway Los Angeles CA 90014
Friday 11am - 9pm

Clifton's Cafeteria, once part of a chain of 8 Clifton's restaurants, is the oldest surviving cafeteria style eatery in Los Angeles, California. A strange, interesting place that is old world Disney style.

(They just remodelled. It's in the heart of Downtown.)
