| "But most importantly - any opinion you have of her or other feminists should have nothing to do with mine. Get your own damn thoughts and reactions, and stop using me and other women as a crutch for fuck's sake.” | |
| Men are told to "fucking shut up and listen" (by Shanley, amongst other people), “mansplaining” is a thing, and the world of gender is full of panels of 100% women telling men what to do about what feminists think are "men’s issues” (i.e. how men’s actions affect women). This is at a time when women’s experiences are front and centre and even hinting at it such a thing being anecdotal will make you a target of persecution. | |
| I’ve been called a sociopath for publishing 1 post about gender on an otherwise entirely technical site, a post which cited my personal experience and my personal stakes, and called for moderation and reflection. Said post was banned from metafilter as being “too low quality”, despite it citing 70+ references fairly and being shared over 80,000 times through the grapevine the past year. Just one example of many, my story is not unique. | |
| Do you suppose that might be why certain men now simply ape women’s opinions? Several guys have told me they are deathly afraid of voicing any opinion on gender lest they be burnt at the stake for it. Meanwhile you’ve got those ‘angry’ women writing one bad blog post after another, applying statistics like a child might apply a jar of fingerpaint, and *getting paid for it*. | |
| I can cite study after study that disproves Shanley and Ashe’s wild generalizations, like the one about how a male ruby developer fresh out of school has no problem earning a 6 figure salary, unlike a female graduate. Actual statistic: unmarried, childless women under 30 out-earn their male peers when comparing the same occupations, just not when comparing the same degrees, because women use their diplomas less. Or Richard Lippa’s massive surveys that show the Norwegian Gender Paradox applies globally, and the more gender equal a society, the more stereotypical the occupational choices of both men and women. | |
| I’ve tested this quite thoroughly: it is always better to enter gender discussions with a female username than a male one. Feminism has totally monopolized the conversation on gender, and now complains that nobody else wants to join in. I wonder why. | |
| That all of this is blissfully ignored in a blog post about complacency and subservience is rather sad :/. I’d hoped you’d have more self-awareness. And I hope you realize that when I engage in this conversation, I don't have to worry about being trolled, I have to worry about becoming persona non grate and being burned at the stake because I dared disagree with the dominant “women are victims” groupthink. |
