Yet another MacOS Arduino Serial Port solution...
Every year and every new MacOS version the same:
masses of people posting about problems with the serial connection discussing solution that do not work in general.
This is my way with MacOS El Captain (10.11.6) and Arduino 1.8.2 ;-)
(yes, versions are important, because the solution may not work with any other)
(no, Do NOT try the "FTDI" solution, it does not work anymore in this case)
Problem:
- Install and Open Arduino IDE
- Select Tools -> Port and see no serial port but the tty.- or cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port
Solution:
Step 1 Reboot and press (and hold) CMD+R immediately after the chime to enter Recovery Mode
Step 2: Open Terminal from Recovery mode
Step 3: run the command csrutil enable --without kext
Step 4: reboot
=> After that you see in Tools -> Port the new entry for the UNO: /dev/cu.wchusbserialfd120
=> Use this for your work with Arduino.
