Today I'm feeling less worried than I have all week. After work I indulged–binge watched the remaining episodes of Halt and Catch Fire. Played a game of Magic with Wryly. Had some pasta and andouille sausage. Thought about doing something on a computer but other than considering buying a .club domain (there was a sale) didn't do much worth noting.

Yesterday afternoon I got out of the house and went to a cafe. I don't know that my work improved any while I was there, in fact I think that the late afternoon caffeine made it harder for me to focus, but with work from home a change of scenery is really helpful in maintaining a bit of focus. I'm working on bugs that involve time and date math logic, which is an especially obnoxious form of torture, because despite looking alike dates and datetimes don't behave in predictable ways and I find there's a lot of coercing from one form to another. It's like having to confirm that when you convert from a euro to a dollar that you get a 1.12. But the market keeps fluctuating.

This morning I saw that Kathy Sierra will be keynoting Strangeloop this year, so now I'm considering going to Strangeloop. I think part of the reason for recent work malaise is when I've asked for feedback I've been told "you're doing a great job." Which is really excellent to hear performance wise, but it makes it much harder to target what I need to improve. Then I couple an impatient desire to make things much better now and… Frustration.

This is what it is to write with a hundred coauthors, this is the dilemma of software, when you write clear work it gets steamrolled in with the mushy and opaque.
