Entering election metadata

Creating the election

In the admin (elections-admin.dallasnews.com/admin), go to elections > add election > setup election

Entering races

  • Log in at elections-admin.dallasnews.com
  • Choose election
  • Under Results Entry, click Edit metadata
  • Click Add Race
  • Fill out the following form
    • Jursidiction: Only required if it's not a federal or state government level race that the AP will not provide metadata for
    • Office: Commissioner, Mayor, City Council, etc.
    • Party: Choose a party if this is a primary, otherwise, leave blank
    • Seat name: The name of the seat as you'd like it displayed to readers. Ex: District 2, Place 5, etc.
    • Seat number: The number of the seat only. This will be used to order the races
    • Seat description: Optional
    • Num winners: Number of possible winners
  • Under Choices, enter in the candidates, marking whether they are an incumbent or not
  • Click Save
