before reading this i thought there is no way to abondon a big chunk of code you wrote just to start over. now i see that sometimes you must in order to move forward and get it correct in the end | |

i have struggled in this area a bit. trying to figure out what i did wrong with a brief, broad and hard to understand error message has been a struggle for me. i look forward to learning new ways to approach them. | |

this actually seems like a cool concept. one thing i have come to learn is, as a programmer you are always having to teach yourself the newest and latest tech. being able to learn it on the job seems like an ideal situation for both employee and employer. | |

i have used checlists often throught my career. sometimes i feel like they help and sometimes i feel like they are just another | |
step for me to have to take. while learning to code i think they will probably help tremendously. i think there will be tons | |
of info thrown at me and to keep my thoughts and what i want to do organized i should lean on checklists. i never really thought | |
about it before, but i can see having these to help guide you in a high pressure situation woud be helpful to not | |
overlook anyting or to avoid missing a step. | |
talent appropriation: | |
reading these articles really made me reflect on my last. thinking about how managers treated their employees and how weaknesses | |
were considered "blood in the water" makes me angry and happy at the same time. angry because they appear to have had it all | |
wrong and all of the stress and mistreatment was quite unnecessary. happy because now i am on a new path where hopefully i | |
will be exposed to a new type of management styles and my strengths and weaknesses will be embraced. | |
i think my top strength is my ability to understand and connect on many levels with all types of people. this has historically | |
been what a big majority of managers, family and friends have told me througout my life. hopefully i can use this strength to | |
connect with colleagues and contribute in a positive and productive way. | |
a more recent strength of mine is empathy. it is a work in progress, but something that progresses everyday. my 18 month old boy requires | |
this of me every second of the day thay we spend together. without it i cannot understand what he is feeling and therefore would | |
not be able to tend to his needs or make him comfortable. it also helps me to control any frustration that arises. i have to | |
remind myself that he is just a baby and his needs and emotions are very real to him. if my approach isnt working its my deal | |
not his. what do i need to do differently to figure out what he needs or wants. | |
i hope to improve these strengths and grow others in the future by using them everyday in all situations that require them | |
and always reflecting on each instance to make going forward better. | |
