This will be my overview of my post Turing 30 Day Plan. The calendar (link below) that I have created for action step one in "creating a schedule" will contain my day to day activities which can/might be adjusted based off of talks with instructors or and schedule changes that happen with other people I interact with or any other un-avoidable things.
Action Step#1 Create Calendar(almost complete)
Action Step#2 Backwards plan. Im not sure what this means. I will not stop looking for a job until I find one.
Action Step#3 Create monthly/weekly/daily goals to reach so that I can get to my ultimate goal.
This is outlined in my google calendar. I have lots of time and a plan carved out for writing code. I intend to join a udacity or tree house program to complete a course(language undecided) and I also have access to plural sight the tutorial website subscription. Luke F and I have been speaking and will meet up to continue working on Squad Goals.
Action Step#1 establish a daily practice repo where you will put small daily exercises(repo established nothing in it yet)
Action Step#1 identify 3 individuals from companies you’re tracking and who you could connect with during first 30 days. Describe why I want to connect with them and what I hope to talk about. When will I email them by and what will we talk about.
Ive reached out to Charles K (turing alum). He lives in North Carolina and is a mentor of mine. There is a solid chance My family and I will move out there, So he and I have been keeping in touch.
I have a brother in law who also lives in North Carolina. He was just offered bt red Hat and is currently working for a VC managing the code base for a group of doctors offices. We speak regularly and will most certainly keep in touch.
Ive also reached out to a gent named Matt Novinger with Workday. He is a former co-worker of my spouse and a developer. He is working the insiode ang;e for me over in Workplace.
Action Step#2 find 3 meet ups or other career networking events to join during first 30 and describe why I will attend them.
I am currently working on this. After the portfolio defense, when I have more time, I will put a heavy emphasis on this.
Action Step#1 show how I have set up job track.io to keep track of jobs I applied for, who I talked to what I learned what next steps Ill take and what I would do diff next time.
Action Step#1 identify 2-3 areas id like to improve on for interviewing and outline concrete action steps on how i will improve those skills. Identify mock interviewers.
The technical part of the interview is where I am most concerned. I intend to practice these during some mock interviews. I have one set up with Kayt Hensley on January 19th @ 10am and will scedule aother one at the same time.
Action Step#1 Ensure my turing portfolio has at least 3 projects displayed, including latest work and a list of desired locations.
Action Step#2 Ensure linked in is up to date and indicates I am job hunting. indicate a summary of any adjustments that i made and how i will continue to update it.
Action Step#1 identify 1-2 peeps I will check in with post 30.
