Our system has been corrupt for a very long time. Most in the political class know it because they’ve benefitted from it. Step in @realDonaldTrump and try to make the system (and America) GREAT AGAIN, and lo and behold, the establishment kicks into overdrive and works to destroy everything and everyone in their way (including a POTUS). Not sure the nation can survive if we don’t use this moment in history to make the necessary corrections to overcome a past that allowed corrupt behavior to seep in so deeply and became so ingrained, making it much harder to reform. We’ll see what these next few months bring. Wake up people! @elonmusk @DOGE

Our system has been corrupt for a very long time. | rejected | https://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2020-54837926 | But there is no evidence the system is corrupt. Electoral fraud is very rare in the United States - the rate is less than 0.0009%, according to a 2017 study by the Brennan Center for Justice. There's no evidence to suggest it's been a major issue at this election either. |

The establishment works to destroy everything and everyone in their way, including a POTUS, when someone tries to make the system great again. | rejected | https://www.newyorker.com/news/the-future-of-democracy/how-america-escapes-its-conspiracy-theory-crisis | The imaginary “deep state”—a permanent, unelected shadow government which is said to have relentlessly gathered power to itself—has long served as a foil for Trump. According to the President and his allies, the deep state might include not just power-mad F.B.I. and C.I.A. agents but military leaders, journalists, tech executives, and F.D.A. regulators; some have extended it to include infectious-disease experts fighting the pandemic, such as Anthony Fauci. The idea of the deep state saturates Trump’s rhetoric and worldview. His Presidency is predicated on the idea that the United States government is itself an enemy of the people. |
The establishment works to destroy everything and everyone in their way, including a POTUS, when someone tries to make the system great again. | rejected | https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/oct/07/trump-big-donors-corruption-musk | Experts say Trump’s political pitches and maneuverings are a clearly “transactional” chase for big checks, and pose a serious danger of major corruption in a US political system already flooded with powerful donors and lobbyists. |
Corrupt behavior has become so ingrained in the system that it is much harder to reform. | rejected | https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2016/11/17/13626514/trump-systemic-corruption | Such a system, once in place, is extremely difficult to dislodge precisely because, unlike a fascist or communist regime, it is glued together by no ideology beyond basic human greed, insecurity, and love of family. |

🤖 Conclusion [20/100]: After evaluating the statement and all provided claims with their references, the overall statement has minimal truth. Most claims are either rejected or inconclusive. Reliable sources reject the broad assertion that the American political system is long-term, pervasively corrupt, and that there is an organized effort by the 'establishment' to destroy reformers like Donald Trump. There is some acknowledgment by political experts and journalists of periodic corruption and difficulty in enacting reforms due to entrenched interests, but there is no significant evidence for the scale or intent described. Electoral fraud and similar systemic corruption are consistently shown to be rare. In sum, the claims are greatly exaggerated and not strongly supported, so the truthfulness score is low.
