So many of you are looking for an internship?!

Finding An Internship:

Let's work with to you find an internship! My objective work with you to "learn to fish" for an internship as opposed to giving them to you. Start first by reading my blogpost: http://obsessed.jonl.org. This documents my adventure that ultimately led my to find my first job teaching in NYC at General Assembly. Bogdan, a club leader has successfully used a modified version of this strategy to find an internship (he wrote a blogpost that will be posted in the hackEDU leaders group shortly).

Please comment in this thread when you have questions, once there's critical mass and it's just easier to have a discussion about this, we can organize a Google Hangouts for a Q&A on how to get an internship!

hackEDU is launching a fellowship program

Obviously we'll be looking at our club leaders first! We're looking for a developer, designer, curriculum and clubs experience designer, operations lead, marketing lead, and sponsorship lead.

Developer:

  • Work on the website and developing the technical infrastructure for hackEDU.
  • You will work closely with Zach to get your code reviewed.

Curriculum and Clubs Experience Designer:

  • Work on creating the product that is a club-in-a-box, the all inclusive resource we are working to put together that allows new and old club leaders very easily start and lead clubs. This will include curriculum, how to use the curriculum, promo codes for various services, setting up social media, creating attendance systems, etc.
  • Learn about how to create amazing educational experiences that don't suck and be responsible for bringing hackEDU across the country

Operations Lead:

  • Works on onboarding new clubs across the country. Currently we have 38 and we want to add 60 more!
  • Learn how to grow and run an growing organization.

Marketing Lead:

  • Find and recruit volunteers as well as finding new club leaders.
  • You will learn to improve your communication and networking skills.

Sponsorship lead:

  • Reach out to companies like Dropbox, AirBnb, Imgur for sponsorship.
  • Learn to communicate, negotiate, and get ins at the top companies across the country so you can easily reach out to them for a job later!
