worked in ubuntu16
Fails for me on Ubuntu18.04, with an "internal compiler error", when making the xapian_wrap.lo target. (xapian-core builds fine, this was xapian-bindings)
Turns out that was because my server was running out of memory :)
I got an error:
tar: xapian-core-1.2.18.tar.gz: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
