Inaugural ICT job Fair (in partnership with Huawei), held at Makerere University Uganda

- Importance of supporting young people, so that they do not leave (to go abroad) immediately

Talked about the:

- 0.5% p.a growth in the ICT "fraternity"

- 70% of the educated youths in Uganda, some of whom still struggle to find employment opportunities

- 1,100 total opportunities present at the job fair

- 234 internship opportunities present

- Need to leverage ICT in order to provide opportunities for graduates(for example), who would otherwise be sent to the middle east to work as helps, and so forth.

- National ICT Hub as well

- CCNA, ... free registration available at the Fair

Talked about the:

- 300 training opportunities available at the Fair

- Importance of embracing the opportunities presented (including the importance of ICT and all related emerging technologies)

Chinese ambassador to Uganda - Chief guest, Zhang Lizhong

Talked about the:

- Youth day Uganda(Aug, 12th), and the history of the Chinese Youth Day (May, 4th)

- ICT Talent programme, and the previous winners of the 2022 Huawei competition Sub-Saharan Africa

- Pledge to provide 1000 jobs

- Delivers His Excellency's regards

- Re-iterates the importance of discipline, peace and dialogue in resolving conflicts

- 18th August (the major youth day will be celebrated -- postponed to 18th August)

- Re-iterates the inaugural job fair with Huawei

- More than 1000 young Ugandans who have already found job placements as a result of event such as the ICT Job Fair

- Emphasis on ICT as part of the National Vision 2040, and many other road-maps for the country

- Re-iterates H.E's talks about the opportunities present in: Commercial agriculture, industry, services, and ICT.

- Building incubation for innovation solutions

- Promise for funding directed to I.C.T labs in schools

- Importance of focusing also on areas with difficult terrain

- Re-iterates that the ICT Job fair will be annual, and take place in other regions as well

- Thanks to all stakeholders
