Welcome to the "ChatGPT No Interrupt" Chrome Extension (the "Extension"). This policy describes how the Extension handles information. Our goal is to provide a smoother voice interaction experience on the ChatGPT website by preventing premature interruptions during pauses in speech.
The Extension requires access to the webpage context of specified ChatGPT domains (such as chatgpt.com) to function. When you activate the voice input feature on the ChatGPT website and hold down the SPACEBAR, the Extension interacts with the microphone audio stream being processed by your browser locally.
The Extension utilizes the browser's built-in Web Audio API for its core function. Specifically:
- Local Processing Only: When the spacebar is held during an active voice session, the Extension locally accesses the audio stream from your microphone within your browser.
- Non-Audible Signal Injection: It temporarily mixes a non-audible, low-level signal into this local audio stream.
- Purpose: The sole purpose of adding this non-audible signal is to prevent the website's Voice Activity Detection (VAD) system from interpreting silence (pauses) as the end of your speech input, thus avoiding unwanted interruptions.
- Transient Modification: This modification happens in real-time and only for the duration the
SPACEBARis actively held down by the user. The modified stream (your voice/silence combined with the non-audible signal) is then passed on to the ChatGPT service for processing as intended by the website.
The "ChatGPT No Interrupt" Extension is designed with user privacy as a priority:
- NO Recording: The Extension DOES NOT record any audio from your microphone or your conversations.
- NO Storage: The Extension DOES NOT store any audio data or user content locally or remotely.
- NO Collection: The Extension DOES NOT collect any personal information, user identifiers, or usage analytics.
- NO Transmission: The Extension DOES NOT transmit any audio data, user content, or personal information to any third-party servers, except for the implicitly modified audio stream being passed directly back to the ChatGPT service you are actively using (as described in Section 3). The Extension itself initiates no external network requests with user data.
The Extension's functionality is limited to the specific website domains listed in its manifest file (e.g., chatgpt.com). It does not run or interact with any other websites you visit.
The Extension operates on the ChatGPT website. Your interactions and audio data submitted to ChatGPT (including the stream potentially modified locally by this Extension) are governed by OpenAI's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. This Extension does not alter that relationship or OpenAI's policies.
