Locking down the abstract type T still results in the type error!

scala> class Foo {            
   | final type T = this.type
   | def cloneit : T = {     
   |    val x = new Foo            
   |    x match {
   |      case y : T => y
   |      case _ => error("ZOMG")
   |    }
   | }
   | }
