Kalecser Kurtz - (README - WIP)

About this document

This document is work in progress, and its motivation is to be a document about me.

Motivation

  • To serve as a reference guide so we can work better together;
  • To be an instrument of self-knowledge and reflection on my career;

My mission

To contribute to society solving real problems, as part of a team, by building computer systems that work efficiently, sustainably, and reliably.

Core values

  • Teamwork with ongoing idea discussion and pursuit of the most elegant solutions;
  • Respect for our legacy, learning from everything that already exists and works;
  • Pragmatism, by way of appreciation for everything that produces results;
  • Sustainable work pace, valuing quality above all else;
  • Performance reviews that are fair with honest and assertive feedback;
  • Meetings, when needed, must have a clear scope and involve as few people as possible;

My role as an engineering executive

  • Engineering culture: to keep our systems running with quality and flexibility so that the engineering team can support our company's growth;
  • Results: To continually deliver value for the company, stimulating hard work and setting the standard;
  • People development: to promote an environment of honesty, fairness, and safety so that the entire team deliver the best they can and develop themselves;
  • Strategy: to anticipate future needs and accelerate decision-making;

How can I help you?

  • Tough decisions: to help with decision making particularly under challenging situations bringing experience and guidance to the table;
  • Feedback: structured situational and career feedback. Be willing to schedule your feedback session with me at any time;
  • External point of view and second opinion on any matter related to our work together;
  • Help with incident mitigation and future prevention plans;
  • Mentoring and support for all team leaders in people development, software architecture decisions and relationships with all other company departments;

How can YOU help me?

  • Hard work, continuous and incremental delivery;
  • Take responsibility for your job and ask for help whenever you need it;
  • Undertake your work with quality and diligence;
  • Help your colleagues;
  • Constructive feedback is always welcome;
  • Always learn, especially from any mistake you or your colleagues make;
  • Write tests and think about our architecture;
  • Help me bring good talent such as you to our team;

Things you should know about me

  • I have strong opinions and I will always tell you the truth...
  • ...however I am always re-evaluating my stances and am willing to change my mind;
  • I value initiative over protocol and result over form;
  • I do not believe in long term plans that do not have short term gain components; everything must be incremental;
  • Being an extrovert I tend to think aloud, and sometimes I speak and write too much;
