PostgreSQL index naming convention to remember

The standard names for indexes in PostgreSQL are:

{tablename}_{columnname(s)}_{suffix}

where the suffix is one of the following:

  • pkey for a Primary Key constraint;
  • key for a Unique constraint;
  • excl for an Exclusion constraint;
  • idx for any other kind of index;

resolving the proper location and line number through a console.log wrapper

console.log wrap resolving for your wrapped console logs

I've heard this before:

What I really get frustrated by is that I cannot wrap console.* and preserve line numbers

We enabled this in Chrome DevTools via blackboxing a bit ago.

If you blackbox the script file the contains the console log wrapper, the script location shown in the console will be corrected to the original source file and line number. Click, and the full source is looking longingly into your eyes.

Adds a vertical offset top and bottom to Bootstrap 3 to be used within columns. Currently no vertical offset is available as standard in Bootstrap 3.
/*
Include this after bootstrap.css. Add class of
vert-offset-top-value or vert-offset-bottom-value
to your Bootstrap 3 default rows to prevent row content
from touching the row content above or below.
*/
/* Vertical Offset Bottom */

Better local require() paths for Node.js

Better local require() paths for Node.js

Problem

When the directory structure of your Node.js application (not library!) has some depth, you end up with a lot of annoying relative paths in your require calls like:

const Article = require('../../../../app/models/article');

Those suck for maintenance and they're ugly.

Possible solutions

A C#-like dispose pattern implemented in javascript - with underscorejs and qunit. Testable: http://jsfiddle.net/52CnZ/14/
!function(root, _, undefined) {
var Disposable = root.Disposable = function() {
this.disposed = false;
};
Disposable.prototype = {
_dispose: function() {
if (!this.disposed) {
this.dispose();
this.disposed = true;
