Dude, you came to the exact right person. He want's Lucchese. I
wanted some cowboy boots for Christmas last year, and I went out of my
way to make sure they were Lucchese's. They are $300 and comfortable
as hell, and they also make some higher end ones if interested. Do
NOT fuck around with Justin or any of the other shitty brands you will
find at Western Warehouse. Just trust me on this one. Luchesse's are
the most classic mid-market (ie not $3,000) brand. They are all
hand-made in San Antonio or El Paso. Here's a video of them making
some: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OycogDJXIRc. This shit is real.
They are so comfortable.
I know it's not as cool as getting them at a shop, but because I have
big feet I got mine on Zappos.
http://www.zappos.com/lucchese-mens-boots~1 You can also custom-order
from Lucchese if you want. Also, make sure he knows to get them a
little bit tight because they stretch a bit as they age. I wear size
15 shoes and I got 14D Lucchese's, and they fit perfect. A little
snug but not uncomfortable. If your heal slips a little when you
first get them, they are too big.
I got these ones, they're pretty basic, classic, and awesome.

If he doesn't have any cowboy boots at all, he should stick to some
like that so that he has the style. They make different kinds like
this http://www.zappos.com/product/7756534/color/278134 (I call these
"shitkickers"), but if he doesn't have any cowboy boots he should get
some more traditional ones like the ones I got. If you wanted
shitkickers anyways you should probably roll with Red Wing instead
(http://www.redwingshoes.com/productdetails.aspx?prodid=1792) which
are also insanely comfortable.
The most importnat part in my opinion is to not fuck around with the
brand. Lucchese boots are so legit. If he is ever out in Cali and
somebody sees him with boots and he is like "yeah, these are
Lucchese's", any cool person would be like "hell yeah, that's
awesome." It's kind of like when I find a Robert Earl Keen fan in
Cali. | |
So in review: | |
Cowboy boots: http://www.zappos.com/lucchese-n1556-5-4-chocolate-mad-dog-goat
Shitkickers: http://www.redwingshoes.com/productdetails.aspx?prodid=1792
They both kick ass and are very awesome.
