Getting started with Roll20

tips

  • right mouse button drags, left mouse button selects by default
  • measurement tool is the third one down, the little circle with a ruler looking thing coming out of it

tweaks

turn off video and audio in roll20

Since we’ll be using google meet for this, there’s no reason to have roll20’s built in video and audio stuff and it’s always been hard to find for me so here’s how to disable it.

  1. hamburger menu
  2. settings gear
  3. scroll down to video + audio chat options a. I want to broadcast to others -> Nothing (disable) b. I want to receive from others -> Nothing (disable)

huge avatars to just names

  1. hamburger menu
  2. settings gear
  3. chat avatars a. player / video avatar size -> Names only

show macro quick bar

  1. hamburger menu
  2. unordered list looking icon next to the settings gear (the macro menu)
  3. show macro quick bar

macros

after enabling the macro quickbar I recommend making macros for your primary attacks and such that you’ll be using a lot. This can be done by dragging the ability from your character sheet down to the macro bar. Easy peasy.
