About Spout

<h1>What is Spout?</h1>

<h2>Platform</h2>

Spout is an open source, multithreaded, voxel game engine and platform, written in Java. The Spout Platform allows developers to create games, or lightweight plugins that modify existing features, seamlessly sharing content and features from the server to Spout clients. You may here Spout be called "next-gen" or "Platform" in order to distinguish it from Spoutcraft and SpoutPlugin, Legacy projects. <h2>Vanilla</h2>

The Spout Platform is being concurrently developed with its sister project, <a href="https://github.com/vanilla" target="_blank"><b>Vanilla</b></a>, an open-source Minecraft clone that allows both Mojang clients and Spout clients to connect and play on the Spout Platform.

<h2>Marketplace</h2>

In addition to the game platform itself, we are planning on offering a marketplace to share various resources. Developers will be able to easily distribute and manage their plugins and content. Textures, models, and characterization will be available from artists and designers. This means hats, shirts, armor, tools, entirely custom models, and more to fully customize your game experiences.

<h1>What is Legacy?</h1>

The original (legacy) Spout projects began as modifications to Minecraft and the CraftBukkit Minecraft server mod. These projects are being maintained until the new Spout platform is ready for general use. Our Legacy projects' source is hosted on <a href="https://github.com/legacy" target="_blank">GitHub</a>. Keep in mind that unofficial versions and any personal modifications of our legacy projects are unsupported.

<h2>Spoutcraft</h2>

Spoutcraft is a Minecraft client mod and launcher that provides users with a simple and more customizable Minecraft experience. Servers running SpoutPlugin push content to Spoutcraft users as needed; such as custom items, blocks, and user skins, capes, and other accessories. Players can then enjoy custom server experiences without having to manually modify their client for each server.

<h2>SpoutPlugin</h2>

SpoutPlugin, formerly BukkitContrib, is a plugin for the CraftBukkit Minecraft server mod. It extends the Bukkit plugin API to unlock features that were previously impossible. Through the use of SpoutPlugin, server owners can easily customize the experience for their players, without having to deal with incompatible server and client modifications.
