Perhaps it has something to do with permissions? Perhaps related to boot2docker's boot2docker/boot2docker#581?

Update: Yes, for me this was a problem with boot2docker and, more specifically, with permissions on VirtualBox-mounted directories. So I do not mount the volume anymore.
