app list for App.net

Safari - Yup. I like Chrome, but I don't like Google. Lesser of two evils here, people.

Dropbox — all my documents are saved right into Dropbox. Nothing else. The retention length is long enough that I've literally never had a problem losing a file.

NValt - all my thoughts go here. Anything of any sort of length. My library card number? Hi NValt. My 10 page essay about Psychology? Hello NValt. All synced through Dropbox.

Transmission - things are acquired here. Don't ask questions.

Hazel - I have some complicated recipes being filtered through Hazel for keeping my Downloads folder relatively clean, as well as meticulously organizing my media collection for access from my Apple TV and other iOS devices.

Plex - The best media center ever. This with my Apple TV = heaven.

TextExpander - I've expanded four snippets already since I've been writing this. Sometimes I write TextExpander snippets on paper, then I get pissed off when they don't work.

Day One - My life needs more recording. Day One (now with awesome new iOS app) does that for me. I use Slogger to capture just about all of my life.

Alfred - Quicksilver, version 2. I love the iTunes support as well as awesome custom search fields. I might as well keep the Alfred pane up at all times.

Fantastical - Better than iCal in every way. Natural language entry of events is flawless. "Dinner with (blank) at (blank) on (blank) at (blank)pm". Beautiful.

1Password - Don't trust yourself with passwords. Trust Agilebits.

Tweetbot - I'd be lying if I said I used this anymore. Hi App.net.

iA Writer - Long-form school assignments and aborted writing projects live in here.

OmniFocus - I do not trust my brain for tasks either. Following David Allen's advice, OmniFocus is my "trusted system" for everything.

Bowtie - I like knowing what I'm listening to with an insanely large library. This makes it easier. Pic below.

Bowtie

Cloud - I use cloud for the sole purpose of uploading screenshots. Like the one above. Pretty sure I've only scratched the surface on this one.

Misc. things:

f.lux - Obligatory. Save your eyes.

TVShows pref pane - Don't ask any more questions. Sometimes I get TV shows here. Shh.

iTerm - Rarely use the command prompt, but iTerm is a lot prettier.

ZSH - works well with my adaptation of holman's dotfiles.

Ruby/Homebrew - Any sort of programming I do through here. I don't program as much as I used to, but Ruby is still my homeboy.
