IBI Group JS Software Developer Job Spec

IBI Group is looking for a front-end/JavaScript developer to join our Glasgow city-centre office.

You will be working on a range of projects from large information websites to web apps, designing and implementing new areas of functionality using semantic HTML, CSS and JS with back ends built on modern .NET and Node.js technology.

You will have an interest in keeping up-to-date with current web trends and techniques and enjoy discussing these with the rest of the team.

Essential skills

  • Advanced JavaScript with experience of frameworks such as Angular, Ember or such
  • Modular design of JS modules using AMD
  • Experience of consuming online RESTful APIs
  • Knowledge and usage of accessibility and usability standards
  • Hand coding HTML & CSS (semantic and valid HTML5/CSS3)
  • Knowledge of cross-browser issues
  • A thorough browser/device testing ethos
  • Understanding of web page load speeds and scalability
  • An interest in learning

Nice skills to have

  • Distributed version control (we use Git)
  • Node.js development
  • WebSocket development
  • Gulp/Grunt automation
  • TDD
  • LESS/Sass
  • Understanding of progressive enhancement in web projects
  • Responsive layout techniques
  • Wireframing

Duties

  • Coding in JavaScript, semantic HTML and CSS
  • Peer reviewing and testing of other team members' work
