State of the Subreddit: 11,000 subscribers is just the start

First off, big round of applause to everyone for another milestone! We now have over 11,000 subscribers. According to the redditlist, that means that we are the #776 largest subreddit. Cool. Cool. Cool cool cool.

I just want to thank everyone for being part of such a great fanbase. I love working on this game, and I hope you love playing it. All the contributors have made this game a reality, and I'm so thankful you've come along for the ride.

So now that we've reached 11,000, what's next?

You may have noticed that the last 1,000 subs took much longer to get than the previous 1,000. I've looked at the subreddit stats, and we've seen declining traffic over the past month. Also, the number of releases we're doing has also dropped off.

This isn't anything to worry about. Reddit is a very fickle place, and one thing that was popular a week ago is forgotten the next. I'm very confident that our numbers will start improving once we get releases back to once a week.

The developers have been running into some issues with the code base. Since we grew so fast, the code base became a bit of a mess. This happens all the time with code, and it's something we can handle. Right now our focus is on improving the code base so that we can add features faster. However, this is only a temporary focus.

Gameplay is, and will always be, our number one priority. Not only do we want this game to be faithful to the episode, we want it to be fun to play. We want this to be a game you come back to day-after-day to see what's new to play.

The real work has just begun. Video games are not easy to make. They take time and effort, so I thank all of you for being patient.

This is a state of the subreddit post, so I'll end with a question. What can we do to improve this subreddit? I'm not talking about gameplay or changes to the video game, I'm talking specifically about our subreddit /r/hawkthorne. Can't wait to hear your ideas.
