MitID is a very finicky app that sometimes stops working in GrapheneOS. For that reason I strongly recommend disabling automatic updates for this particular app in the Play Store, and only updating when there is evidence that the new version will keep working. It's also worth it to order a code display as a back up authenticator — it's free.
For the sake of other users I will try my best to document here which versions work and which don't work.
Starting on 2024-06-12, MitID seems to have started using Google Play Integrity API during activation. This means that new installations will no longer work in GrapheneOS nor any other non-stock Android, as they are not certified by Google and will not pass the required checks. The app still works (for now) if you managed to get it activated before that date.
As of 2024-08-29, latest known working configuration is:
- MitID version 3.4.2 (116)
- GrapheneOS version 2024082200
- Vanadium browser version 121.0.6167.101.1 or newer
- Bootloader must be locked and "OEM unlocking" in "Developer options" must be turned off
- Google Play Services required only during initial activation

Old versions of MitID can be installed using Aurora store (F-droid) by choosing "Manual download" and entering the "version code" (number in parenthesis).
