The aim of this challenge is to provide some social-distancing compatible motivation for people training solo while group sessions are off. It is not to be taken seriously.
Every evening a segment will be nominated to be the "Segment of the Day" for the following day. All you need to do to be included is to go and run the segment before 9pm that day.
- Be considerate to others using the paths.
- Don't run in groups.
- The competition will run until group training starts again, we go into lockdown, or people get bored and quit.
- Judges' decisions are final.
- Wash your hands.
Points will be awarded as follows:
- 0 points will be awarded to the fastest male and female runners each day
- 10 points will be given to the 2nd fastest male and female runners. 9 Points for 3rd place, and so on...
- 5 bonus points will be given to anyone who claims an overall CR
- 3 bonus points will be given to anyone recording a PR on a segment that they have run before
- an extra bonus point will be given for each consecutive day of recording an effort (up to a maximum of 7 days - rest days are still important)
- The scoring system might change at any point in the future if I think it will improve things
- Avoid busy places like parks, canals, or anywhere where people are likely to congregate. Residential streets are best.
- Segments should be located so that most people can reach them within a 10k run
- Segments should be at least 500m to avoid too much GPS randomness
