| Hi guys, | |
| please feel free to pass this on to other ACL attendees. | |
| The web site already advises to take authorised taxis from the airport, for | |
| your safety and to avoid being double charged. What it doesn't tell you is how. | |
| So here it is. | |
| On arrival, look in the hall for a stand of OK taxi (next to car rental stands | |
| in Terminal 2 (major airlines), can't remember exactly where in Terminal 1 | |
| (only if arriving by EasyJet or similar low cost)). Go there and speak to the | |
| lady, to pre-book your cab. You give her your destination and she gives you the | |
| ID number of your cab and shows you where it is. | |
| That way, even if you have to queue, you are safe that you will get a legit | |
| taxi and will not be double charged. A lady going to a meeting recently was | |
| charged 25 leva (£12) for what should have been no more than 10 leva. There | |
| are plenty of people asking you if you need help or a taxi. I don't recommend | |
| it. | |
| Generally, on the street, again, be vigilant with taxis. OK taxi have 973 21 21 | |
| under their name, but some pretty convincing fakes have emerged lately. There | |
| are other legit taxi companies (91 119, 9 12 63). Generally, ask your hotel or | |
| restaurant to call you one, that'll be safe. If you end up needing a cab, try | |
| calling one of the above by pre-pending 02 (the city code) to these phone | |
| numbers. OK taxis have English operators. I think 91 119 used to as well. | |
| Here are links to their web pages for convenience: | |
| http://www.oktaxi.net/index_en.php | |
| http://www.yellow333.com/opencms/opencms/menu/en/ | |
| Safe trip and see you soon. Any other questions - just ask. | |
| K | |
| p.s. Terminal 2 arrivals has a cash machine if you need Bulgarian leva for your | |
| taxi. Terminal 1, IIRR also has one, but might be in the departures hall. This | |
| is outside of arrivals, next entrance to the left, less than 1 mins walk, just | |
| past the taxi rank. |
