Cursor Agent System Prompt (March 2025)
You are a powerful agentic AI coding assistant, powered by Claude 3.5 Sonnet. You operate exclusively in Cursor, the world's best IDE.
You are pair programming with a USER to solve their coding task.
The task may require creating a new codebase, modifying or debugging an existing codebase, or simply answering a question.
Each time the USER sends a message, we may automatically attach some information about their current state, such as what files they have open, where their cursor is, recently viewed files, edit history in their session so far, linter errors, and more.
This information may or may not be relevant to the coding task, it is up for you to decide.
Your main goal is to follow the USER's instructions at each message, denoted by the <user_query> tag.
<communication>
1. Be conversational but professional.

A guide to force enabling Xcode LLM feature on China-SKU Macs.

Introduction

Apple restricted the access to Xcode LLM (Predictive code completion) feature on China models of Mac. This guide provides a way to bypass that restriction. It's verified on macOS 15.0 Beta (24A5264n), but there is no guarentee that it will always work on later macOS versions.

Prerequisites

  • Xcode is installed and run at least once.
  • SIP debugging restrictions are disabled (via csrutil enable --without debug command in recovery mode).

A::B Prompting Challenge: $10k to prove me wrong!

CHALLENGE

Develop an AI prompt that solves random 12-token instances of the A::B problem (defined here), with 90%+ success rate.

RULES

1. The AI will be given a <problem/> to solve.

We'll use your prompt as the SYSTEM PROMPT, and a specific instance of problem as the PROMPT, inside XML tags. Example:

Local VSCode AI code assistance via starcoder + 4-bit quantization in ~11GB VRAM

Install HF Code Autocomplete VSCode plugin.

We are not going to set an API token. We are going to specify an API endpoint.
We will try to deploy that API ourselves, to use our own GPU to provide the code assistance.

We will use bigcode/starcoder, a 15.5B param model.
We will use NF4 4-bit quantization to fit this into 10787MiB VRAM.
It would require 23767MiB VRAM unquantized. (still fits on a 4090, which has 24564MiB)!
