What wallpapers will be included in this backup?

  • Every wallpaper from the iPhone 11 series and up.
  • Every wallpaper from the iPhone SE 2nd and 3rd generation.
  • Every wallpaper from iOS 13 and later.
  • Every wallpaper from the iPad Air 4 and up.
  • Scarce wallpapers from the more modern iPads (includes M2 iPad Pro and iPad 10th gen)

What wallpapers may not be included in this backup?

  • iPad Pro M4 (impossible to add, other than on M4 iPad Pros)
  • iPhone 16 Pro (only can be added on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro)
  • iPhone 16 (not included)

Hardware Requirements

  • An iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or later.
  • A Mac running Big Sur (11) or a PC running Windows 10/11 (mac recommended).
  • A USB-C or Lighting Cable (corresponds to the device you own).

Software Requirements

Section 1: Installing the needed software

  1. If on windows, first download Apple Devices and follow the setup steps.
  2. After, download iMazing and follow the setup steps.
  3. Download the PosterBoard Collection file and extract it (it is very large so it will take a while).

Section 2: Restoring the files

  1. Plug in your device and open iMazing (ensure it is connected).
  2. Click your device and go to Tools > Manage Apps. You may need to log in with your Apple ID.
  3. Click the three dots in the bottom right corner, and click the Restore App Data in the menu.
  4. Select the PosterBoard1 (if repeating, choose 2, 3, and then 4) file in the unzipped PosterBoard Collection file.
  5. It will now restore. Repeat steps 2-4, restoring each file after 1 until you have restored PosterBoard4.

Section 3: Fixing PosterBoard

  1. After you have restored PosterBoard 4, head to the Tools section and click Back Up.
  2. Once the backup is made, click "Close" in the top left corner, and go to Backups.
  3. Find the backup you made most recently and hover over it.
  4. You will see three dots. Click on them and select "Create an Editable Copy of this Backup".
  5. Go to the new editable backup, and go to Data.
  6. Click "File System" and open the Apps Folder.
  7. Find the app AppDomain-com.apple.PosterBoard and delete all the files inside of the app.
  8. Open a Finder/File Explorer window, go to com.apple.PosterBoardUnzipped, open the container folder, and select all the files inside.
  9. Drag the files and drop them into the iMazing App. Make sure to drop them into the PosterBoard's domain.
  10. Click the "Copy to Mac/PC" button.
  11. Go back to your device and go to Tools > Manage Apps.
  12. Click the three dots in the bottom right corner, and click the Restore App Data in the menu.
  13. Select the PosterBoard file that should be outside of the PosterBoard Collection folder.
  14. Once restored, you should see a black screen, meaning that it worked. If you don't, try doing the gesture to bring up the wallpaper customization options (hold down on the lock screen). If there is no wallpapers, it has worked. If there is any wallpapers, then start from section 2 again.

Section 4: Restoring the PosterBoard5 file

  1. Go back to your device and go to Tools > Manage Apps.
  2. Click the three dots in the bottom right corner, and click the Restore App Data in the menu.
  3. Select the PosterBoard5 file in the unzipped PosterBoard Collection file.
  4. It will now restore.

Congratuations! You have (hopefully) restored the wallpapers. If something went wrong, go to Troubleshooting.

Troubleshooting

The "Manage Apps" pane is stuck on loading.

  1. Exit out of iMazing FULLY.
  2. Unplug your device.
  3. Plug your device back in.
  4. Open iMazing.

My PosterBoard broke before I tried to fix PosterBoard.

  • Follow steps 2-4, however restore PosterBoard1 only.
  • If that does not work, then there's a good chance you're on an unsupported device or iOS version.
  • Reminder: This only works on iPhones, and only works on iOS 17.6.1 and later.

The wallpapers won't load after restoring PosterBoard5.

  1. Do the wallpaper edit gesture (hold down on the lock screen).
  2. You should see a lot of blank wallpapers. Go to each wallpaper, wait for it to load, and move to the next one.
