FreeAgent is one of the UK's largest and most popular online accounting products, helping tens of thousands of freelancers and micro-companies manage their businesses in our simple, stress-free way.
We're looking for a new member to join our Support Engineering team, a crucial area of our business. As a Support Engineer you'll be investigating and responding to second-line, customer-reported technical problems, managing and overseeing the resolution of these issues. We develop almost exclusively in Ruby (and Rails is our web framework of choice), so as you'll be spending a lot of your time in our code base, a passion about Ruby and the web in general is important.
You'll be dealing directly with our customers, as well as working closely with our Engineering and dedicated Customer Support teams to ensure that the FreeAgent experience continues to exceed our customers' expectations. You will also take an active role in Corporate IT, supporting our office network, VoiP system and Apple hardware.
Applications from 2014 graduates are encouraged.
- Investigate and resolve second-line technical, customer-facing issues in a prompt, efficient and helpful manner
- Report, prioritise and investigate resolutions for application defects
- Be prepared to develop production-ready fixes and improvements to FreeAgent
- Take part in code and ticket reviews with your colleagues
- Assist Corporate IT by supporting our office network, Macs and telephone system
- Identify regular time-sinks and automate common tasks. This often involves command-line tooling to run on both local and production environments
We have a lovely office in the West End of Edinburgh, full of good food and drink (plus free team lunch every Friday), and lots of friendly teammates who like a good laugh. We offer paid international conference visits as well as regular company hack days.
If you're interested you can find out more on our website or just email me directly.
