Chat log from the spatial audio meetup at Notam May 2020
Hello and welcome to this virtual Notam meetup.
This is a space for sharing ideas, inspiration, workflow, projects, tips and tricks and just hanging out with likeminded people.
It's nice to get to know each other so when/if it's your turn to speak, please tell us your name and a bit about yourself.
Feel free to post a link to your website/soundcloud/bandcamp/github or whichever page we could visit to learn a bit more about you and your work.
Thanks for joining!

I'm using these Fel omni's for field recording. They use the same capsules as the LOM mics and they're even cheaper:

Maybe David Monacchi's website is interesting to you. We met in 2007 in Berkeley and he has recorded with ST450 in the primary rain forest, and also with the em32 Eigenmike.

If you look up "Florian Camerer", you see images of a broadcasting documentary spatial audio recording engineer with heavy and large studio equipment out in the mountains.... for the highest quality standards and quiet levels, bringing good spaced cardioids with you could be necessary sometimes.

We've got an OctoMic, but haven't tried it outdoors as of yet....

Has anyone tried doing a spatial recording using an array of hydrophones?
20:21
Kjetil
Yes! I have tried to contact her, but she's hard to reach.
I will be recording with spaced hydrophones this summer, but that is only stereo. Things are very different in water because of the greater velocity, layers in the water and so on.

this came to my mind about underwater spatial audio. ville pulkki tried some of this
