Can I do the courier part later on after the appointment with the embassy?

@rjrachel19 you cannot do it later. You are going to be submitting the passport at the embassy at the end of your appointment and they need the courier number to be able to send it back to you.

You can ask the embassy officials to delay your appointment till 11 AM or so, and they would be happy to help you. By then you can call them and get this problem sorted.

Can one book MVV appointment in any consulate in India (Delhi/Mumbai/Bangalore) or does it have to be a specific one chosen in your application by your sponsor? It seems my sponsor selected Bangalore but there are no appointments there in April!

@meerals , could you confirm what you did about this? I also do not find available appointments in the month I want them.

Hi @manojmj92, Thanks for the helpful and detailed document on the MVV visa process!

Based on my recent appointment at the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Mumbai, I’d like to share an updated list of required documents — organized in the order requested during the appointment.

I've also included a few personal notes that might help others going through the process.

📌 For the Primary Visa Holder (Documents in order)

  • Embassy appointment confirmation (needed to show at the entrance; not required to submit with the document set)
  • ✅ Two passport-sized photos (as per Netherlands photo specifications)
  • ✅ Original passport and one photocopy (bio page only)
  • ✅ MVV application form (filled, with photo pasted)
  • ✅ IND approval letter
  • ✅ Offer or contract letter copy from the employer
  • ✅ Mailing form (filled and signed) – form available at the consulate
  • ✅ DTDC AWB number and address filled in envelope – DTDC envelope available at the consulate

📌 For the Dependent of the Primary Visa Holder (Documents in order)

  • Embassy appointment confirmation (needed to show at the entrance; not required to submit with the document set)
  • ✅ Two passport-sized photos (as per Netherlands photo specifications)
  • ✅ Original passport and one photocopy (bio page only)
  • ✅ MVV application form (filled, with photo pasted)
  • ✅ IND approval letter
  • ✅ Copy of apostilled marriage certificate (carry original as well)
  • ✅ Photocopy of main applicant’s (spouse’s) passport (bio page only)

ℹ️ Additional Notes

  • 💰 DTDC fees have increased to ₹850 (as of May 2025)

  • 📄 Birth certificate is not required during the MVV appointment but will be needed later for municipal registration in the Netherlands

  • ⏱️ Don’t panic if you're late by 15–20 minutes – the consulate is usually understanding. (based on my personal experience at the Mumbai consulate)

I was delayed by nearly an hour due to heavy rain in Mumbai, but my appointment was still accepted without any issue.

  • 🚫 Do not staple the documents – keep them loose and in the exact order listed above
