Application Developer (Temporary) City of Austin Transportation Department

Job Duties

  • Serve as a core contributor on a technology team to improve Austin Transportation digital services.
  • Work with team members to establish new standards and practices for front-end web development with modern languages and frameworks
  • Assist in scoping and prototyping activities for future design and development projects
  • Work with stakeholders to assess legacy systems and identify opportunities for improved performance and the sustainability of future systems

Key Projects

  • Develop and maintain React-based interactive dashboard application
  • Develop new tools to visualize transportation data

Skills Required

  • 1+ years of professional experience developing interfaces, experiences, and applications-Detailed understanding of and experience building client-side web interfaces and applications using modern JavaScript frameworks, web standards, and open source software
  • Detailed understanding of and experience with continuous delivery, continuous integration testing, and cloud platforms
  • Ability to engage with a wide range of digital specialists, suppliers, and stakeholders to define the best approaches to a problem
  • Ability to quickly become familiar with emerging technologies and practices
  • A passion for public service and a commitment to doing the hard work that’s necessary to improve our city services
