IT Application Analyst -- Austin Transportation Data & Technology Services

Overview

The Data & Technology Services team uses technology to improve a wide range services at the City of Austin Transportation Department. We administer critical IT systems, engineer open transportation data, and geek over maps and open-source projects. We are passionate public servants who take pride in solving real problems for real people.

What You’ll Do

  • Administer our SaaS enterprise applications, troubleshoot issues, and train end-users

  • Collect business requirements, design new features, and implement solutions

  • Work with stakeholders to assess legacy systems and identify opportunities for improved performance and the sustainability of future systems

  • Support our Open Data initiatives by maintaining data standards, authoring technical documentation, and participating in meetups

  • Be visible to staff and stakeholders and regularly undertake activities to engage and build trust with people involved in your area of work

Projects you could work on

  • Vision Zero: Support work on creating a single source of truth for non-vehicle fatality/injury investigations that inform changes to street design for ped/bike safety.

  • Project Tracking: Support work around unifying the project management process to facilitate collaboration between our teams (ex: traffic engineering, active transportation, signs & markings) when they are actively improving street design across the city.

What we’re looking for

  • 2+ years of professional experience supporting and configuring SaaS applications, especially no-code solutions such as Knack, Zoho, Access, Salesforce, etc.

  • Experience translating business needs and research findings into human-centered product design.

  • Familiarity with relational database principles and methods for extracting, transforming, and loading data

  • Strong technical writing skills including experience creating documentation, workflow diagrams, and training materials

  • Ability to engage with a wide range of digital specialists and stakeholders to define the best approaches to a problem
